Turkey Chili with
Wheat Berries and Beans
This hearty chili is packed with protein, fiber, and taste.
Wheat berries upload a nutty chewiness that makes this dish more pleasing.
Ingredients (Serves
4–6)
1 cup wheat berries (uncooked)
1 lb (450 g) ground turkey
1 medium onion, diced
three cloves garlic, minced
1 bell pepper (crimson or inexperienced), diced
1–2 jalapeños (non-obligatory), minced
1 can (15 ounces / 425 g) black beans, drained and rinsed
1 can (15 oz / 425 g) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 can (15 oz / 425 g) diced tomatoes
2 cups low-sodium fowl or vegetable broth
2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp cayenne pepper (elective)
Salt and black pepper to taste
1–2 tbsp olive oil
Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, cilantro,
avocado
Instructions
1. Cook the wheat
berries
Rinse 1 cup wheat berries. In a saucepan, integrate with
three cups water, deliver to a boil, reduce warmness, cowl, and simmer 40–50
mins until smooth but slightly chewy. Drain any extra water.
2. Brown the turkey
Heat olive oil in a massive pot over medium warmness. Add
ground turkey and prepare dinner till browned and no longer pink, ~five–7 mins.
Remove and set aside.
3. Sauté greens
In the same pot, upload onion, garlic, bell pepper, and
jalapeño. Cook five–7 minutes till softened and fragrant.
Four. Build the chili
Return turkey to the pot.Cook 1–2 mins to toast spices. Stir properly.
