Cabbage-and-Sausage Pasta
This dish is a comforting combination of gentle cabbage,
savory sausage, and buttery pasta—a quick and enjoyable meal perfect for any
day.
Ingredients (Serves
2–3)
200 g pasta (spaghetti, penne, or fusilli)
2 tbsp butter (plus greater for finishing)
2 sausages (bratwurst, kielbasa, or smoked sausage), sliced
1 small head of cabbage, thinly sliced (approximately 3
cups)
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ tsp purple pepper flakes (optionally available)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (elective)
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
1. Cook the pasta
Cook pasta in step with package commands until al dente.
Reserve ½ cup of pasta water and drain the relaxation.
2. Cook the sausage
In a large skillet, melt 1 tbsp butter over medium warmth.
Add sausage slices and prepare dinner until browned and barely crispy,
approximately 5–7 mins. Remove and set apart.
3. Sauté the veggies
In the identical skillet, add remaining butter. Sauté onions
till smooth, then add garlic and prepare dinner for 30 seconds. Add cabbage and
purple pepper flakes. Cook until cabbage is soft however barely crisp, 5–6
minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Combine pasta and
sausage
Add cooked pasta to the skillet with cabbage. Toss to
combine. Return sausage to the pan. Add a splash of reserved pasta water if
needed to loosen the mixture.
5. Finish and serve
Toss the whole lot with extra butter for richness. Sprinkle
with Parmesan cheese if the use of.
Tips
Brown the butter barely earlier than adding cabbage for a
nutty taste.
