Peppery Beef and Shishito Stir-Fry


 

Here’s a delicious way to make Peppery Beef and Shishito Stir-Fry—quick, flavorful, and gently highly spiced way to the shishito peppers. This is best for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients (Serves 2–three)

 three hundred g beef (sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced against the grain

150 g shishito peppers, complete

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

2–three garlic cloves, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, minced

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp oyster sauce (non-compulsory for richness)

1 tsp black pepper (or extra for extra kick)

1 tsp chili flakes (non-obligatory)

1 tsp sesame oil

2 tbsp vegetable oil

Salt, to taste

Instructions

1. Marinate the pork:

In a bowl, blend the pork slices with 1 tbsp soy sauce, ½ tsp black pepper, and cornstarch slurry.

2. Prepare the shishito peppers:

Wash and pat dry. Keep them entire; the stems assist in dealing with.

3. Cook the beef:

Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over excessive warmth.

Add pork in a unmarried layer and sear till simply browned (about 2–three minutes). Remove and set aside.

4. Sauté aromatics and peppers:

Add the closing oil.

Toss within the shishito peppers and stir-fry for 3–4 mins till they blister slightly.

5. Combine and season:

Return the beef to the pan. Add the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, and chili flakes.

Stir-fry the whole thing collectively for 1–2 mins until coated and heated via. Taste and regulate salt if wanted.

6. Serve:

 Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions.

Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.

💡 Tips:

Shishito peppers are usually moderate, however 1 in 10 can be highly spiced—provides a fun surprise!

For a richer taste, you can add a dash of rice wine or mirin whilst stir-frying.

Make certain the pan is warm, so the red meat sears nicely in place of stewing.
