Slow-Cooker Smoky
Split Pea Soup
This hearty, smoky cut up pea soup is perfect for cozy food.
Using a slow cooker makes it handy while developing rich flavors over hours.
You can make it vegetarian or upload smoked meat for additonal depth.
Ingredients (Serves
6-8)
2 cups cut up peas, rinsed and taken care of
1 huge onion, diced
2 carrots, diced
2 celery stalks, diced
three garlic cloves, minced
1–2 tsp smoked paprika (provides the smoky taste)
1–2 tsp dried thyme
1–2 bay leaves
1 tsp black pepper
6 cups vegetable or bird broth
1 smoked ham hock or smoked sausage (non-obligatory, for
non-vegetarian version)
2 tbsp olive oil (non-compulsory, for sautéing veggies)
Salt, to flavor
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions

Sauté:
For extra flavor, warmness olive oil in a pan and sauté
onion, carrot, and celery for five mins till barely softened. Garlic may be
brought for the closing minute to avoid burning. Sautéing intensifies the
wonder of the greens, giving the soup extra intensity.
2. Combine
Ingredients in Slow Cooker:
Add cut up peas, sautéed or raw vegetables, garlic, smoked
paprika, thyme, bay leaves, and black pepper to the sluggish cooker. Pour
inside the broth.
If the use of smoked ham hock or sausage, region it on top.
This will infuse the soup with a wealthy, smoky flavor as it cooks.

hock, shred the meat and return it to the soup.

extra contact of taste, drizzle a bit olive oil or sprinkle smoked paprika on
top.

Vegetarian/Vegan: Skip the ham hock or sausage and use
vegetable broth. For delivered smokiness, recollect a few drops of liquid smoke
or smoked paprika.
Creamy Version: Blend half of the soup for a smoother
texture. Adding a dash of coconut milk or cream at the give up makes it richer.
Flavor Boosters: A splash of apple cider vinegar at the stop
brightens the flavors. A sprinkle of sparkling herbs like thyme or parsley
enhances aroma.
Make Ahead: The soup tastes even better the following day as
the flavors deepen. It also freezes well.
